East London Distribution Hub
Enabling works and drainage package for a 120,000 sq ft logistics facility in East London, delivered on programme ahead of main build.
Project Overview
Inhire was appointed to deliver the groundworks and drainage package for a new distribution hub on a former industrial site in Dagenham. The works formed the enabling phase of a larger commercial development and required close coordination with the main contractor's programme.
Scope of Works
- Site clearance and bulk excavation of 18,000 m³
- Below-ground drainage and attenuation system
- Reinforced concrete foundations and slab preparation
- Sub-base construction and hardstanding formation
Project Challenges
The site presented variable ground conditions and limited access due to adjacent operational units. Works also needed to progress around existing statutory services and a live site entrance.
Our Solution
We staged the programme to prioritise drainage runs and service diversions, then sequenced excavation and concrete packages to maintain access and avoid rework. A dedicated site supervisor coordinated daily with the main contractor.
Results
The groundworks and drainage package was completed two weeks ahead of schedule, allowing the steel frame contractor to commence on the agreed date.
