Job Description

The Supplier Relationship Manager will be responsible for managing contracts and performance of IT vendors within Digital Services at The Open University. This role involves creating and overseeing Statements of Work (SOWs), managing budgets, driving value from contracts, and ensuring compliance with university policies. The position requires strong contract management skills, supplier relationship management, and the ability to optimize contract value.

Responsibilities

• Contract Management: • Monitor and maintain delivery of contracts to meet agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and outcomes. • Act as an escalation point for issues related to contracted obligations, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders. • Write and manage Statements of Work (SOWs) and Change Requests (CRs), ensuring compliance with deliverables. • Oversee the outcomes and milestones of SOWs, engaging key stakeholders and meeting university dependencies. • Budget and Financial Management: • Manage budgets, including receipting of goods and services, and work with Finance Business Partnering to produce accurate budgets and forecasts. • Conduct trend analysis to optimize budget performance and forecast future needs. • Value Optimization and Contract Value: • Drive value from contracts by optimizing supplier performance and ensuring best practices in contract management. • Embed a commercial culture within Digital Services to maximize contract value and efficiency. • Compliance and Governance: • Ensure compliance with university policies, including Information Security, and provide support and guidance to suppliers. • Manage the implementation of process improvements, including a lesson-learned format and compliance tracking. • Supplier and Stakeholder Engagement: • Build effective relationships with procurement, business partners, and suppliers to drive value from engagements. • Manage challenging discussions, reduce change requests, and ensure best value from suppliers. • Risk and Issue Management: • Identify and mitigate commercial risks and ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements. • Conduct commercial governance meetings, track contract benefits and values, and address commercial issues and risks. • Performance Review and Improvement: • Own the contract performance review process, strategically analyze performance metrics, and ensure effective partnerships to achieve maximum value.

Requirements

• Contract Management: In-depth knowledge of contract structures and terms, with proven skills in managing large-scale contracts. • Supplier Management: Ability to analyze, understand, and enforce contractual obligations while maintaining strong supplier relationships. • Financial Acumen: Experience managing vendor spend related to IT investment and operating costs, with a focus on delivering value and cost savings. • Vendor Management: Proven ability to manage third-party vendors effectively and ensure compliance with their obligations. • Analytical Skills: Strong capability to analyze data, trends, and performance metrics to drive decision-making.
