Job Description

A renowned property development company in London Job Description: Our client, a leading property development company in London, is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their team and provide cost management services for their upcoming construction projects. This role is critical in ensuring accurate cost estimations, managing project budgets, and protecting the client’s financial interests throughout the construction process.

Responsibilities

– Prepare detailed cost estimates and feasibility studies for proposed construction projects – Conduct site visits and analyze project plans, drawings, and specifications to identify necessary materials, labor, and equipment – Develop and maintain project budgets, monitoring costs throughout the construction lifecycle – Negotiate and manage contracts with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure cost-effective solutions – Evaluate and process change orders, variations, and claims, assessing their impact on project costs – Prepare and analyze progress reports, monitoring project expenditures against the approved budget – Conduct value engineering exercises to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality – Liaise with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective cost management – Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and industry standards – Provide guidance and advice on procurement strategies, contract administration, and risk management

Requirements

– Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience) – Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, with a strong background in cost estimation and budget management – In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques, as well as building codes and regulations – Proficiency in construction cost estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, WinQS, CostX) – Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex project documentation – Excellent communication and negotiation abilities to effectively collaborate with project teams and stakeholders – Familiarity with contract administration, procurement processes, and risk management practices – Attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate and reliable cost information – Membership in relevant professional bodies (e.g., Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Chartered Institute of Building) is preferred
