– Prepare detailed cost estimates and feasibility studies for proposed construction projects
– Conduct site visits and analyze project plans, drawings, and specifications to identify necessary materials, labor, and equipment
– Develop and maintain project budgets, monitoring costs throughout the construction lifecycle
– Negotiate and manage contracts with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure cost-effective solutions
– Evaluate and process change orders, variations, and claims, assessing their impact on project costs
– Prepare and analyze progress reports, monitoring project expenditures against the approved budget
– Conduct value engineering exercises to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality
– Liaise with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective cost management
– Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and industry standards
– Provide guidance and advice on procurement strategies, contract administration, and risk management
– Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
– Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, with a strong background in cost estimation and budget management
– In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques, as well as building codes and regulations
– Proficiency in construction cost estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, WinQS, CostX)
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex project documentation
– Excellent communication and negotiation abilities to effectively collaborate with project teams and stakeholders
– Familiarity with contract administration, procurement processes, and risk management practices
– Attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate and reliable cost information
– Membership in relevant professional bodies (e.g., Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Chartered Institute of Building) is preferred
