Job Description

The Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) position is a contract role based in London, England, with hybrid working arrangements. The contract duration is initially 12 months. This role involves supporting Oracle Database and Weblogic environments for a government department.

Responsibilities

• Database Management: Daily support for Oracle Database and Weblogic environments. • Database Maintenance: Handling installations, upgrades, and patching of Oracle databases. • High Availability: Manage high availability databases and Oracle Data Guard. • Backup and Recovery: Perform backup and recovery tasks using RMAN, Datapump, and Flashback Database. • Performance Tuning: Optimize performance for large databases. • Cloud Services: Work with Microsoft Azure and AWS. • DevOps: Utilize DevOps techniques and technologies. • Configuration & Automation: Use tools like Ansible and GitHub for configuration and automation. • Programming: Work with PL/SQL and SQL. • Support: Provide 3rd line support for Oracle DBA issues.

Requirements

• Experience: o Managing Oracle Database versions 11g, 12c, and 19c on Linux. o Experience with Oracle Weblogic and Oracle HTTP Server. o Working with large databases and Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM). o Backup and recovery techniques (RMAN, Datapump, Flashback Database). o High availability solutions and Oracle Data Guard. o Performance tuning for large databases. o Installations, upgrades, and patching of Oracle databases. o 3rd line Oracle DBA support. o Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools. o Database programming with PL/SQL and SQL. o Configuration and automation tools (Ansible, GitHub). • Technical Skills: o Proficient in Oracle Database Administration. o Experience with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS).
