Job Description

Join NEC Software Solutions as a Network Engineer with SSS Public Safety, where you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining and improving network systems for mission-critical applications. Support emergency services and other key organizations by ensuring reliable and secure network operations.

Responsibilities

• Network Maintenance: Oversee the network for internal engineering solutions and customer remote access. • Incident Management: Resolve network-related incidents within contracted SLA timescales using incident management systems. • Support: Provide 3rd line network support and complete IT Health Check remediation changes. • Configuration & Installation: Configure and install network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, QoS). • Documentation: Create, review, and update network and security documentation. • On-Call Support: Participate in the 24×7 on-call rota and work out of hours as needed. • Customer Interaction: Engage with customers on both technical and non-technical levels, ensuring high-quality service and communication. • Travel: Work from various locations and travel as required, including overnight stays.

Requirements

• Experience: Proven hands-on network and security experience with CCNA or higher (CCNP highly valued). • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of networking protocols (e.g., GRE, IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS) and the OSI or TCP/IP model. • Skills: Configuring and installing network devices and services, using network and security diagnostic tools. • Communication: Excellent client-facing and customer service skills. • ITIL: Experience working to ITIL best practices. • Clearance: Ability to obtain or currently hold relevant security clearances (SC and/or NPPV). • License: Full, current driving license. • Additional: Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and experience with network maintenance and system upgrades.
